I have never cared for a family member with dementia, so I can’t imagine what it must be like.
I have heard endless tales of the struggles and frustrations from those who feel that are swimming upriver with little support to guide them.
At the same time, I encounter stories of triumph and powerful love that motivates caregivers to keep going. I hear of the incredible accomplishments of people with dementia and their caregivers, people who fight for their own rights to be heard and represented, and to receive the care that they deserve.
My message to caregivers is to be so proud of every effort you contribute to caring. You are not alone and we hear you and your calls for help.
We will fight with you every day until you receive the support that you need.
