We Remember!  

We’re celebrating World Alzheimer’s Month this September through film, music, art and photography! The event aims to bring the journey of dementia and the impact caregivers face to light. Join us in changing the story around dementia.

World Alzheimer’s Month  

World Alzheimer’s Month is the international campaign led by Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) every September to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that surrounds dementia.

Registration  

Entry to the event is FREE, there is a fee for main room activities. Participants who would like to attend the main room activities will have to purchase tickets in advance. Fringe Activities

Dementia Simulation & Activities

Through Modified fun and familiar games, experience a dementia simulation conducted by Camp Hiro. Camp Hiro is a Social enterprise that seeks to empower youths in taking ownership and conscious actions in addressing real community needs. Compete at Jenga, Exploding Kittens or have a go at old school ‘toy fishing’ – all while experiencing the simulation!

Hua Hee - A Dementia Engagement Card Game

Hua Hee means happy in Hokkien. It is a card game designed for elderly in Singapore, aimed at helping caregivers fight the progression of dementia in their loved ones. Join the Snap! and/or Pictionary sessions at the Hua Hee booth!

Together - Photography Exhibition

Together helps families relive old stories and make new memories with their loved ones with dementia. All in a box— it’s fun, easy-to-use and yours forever. Project We Forgot (PWF) is a community network for caregivers to persons with dementia. The platform connects individuals and provides a space of identification for community-based support. Find out more here.

Mindfi – Eye-opening meditation for busy humans. Focus, relax and work better. Learn tips on what the lesser-known “informal” mindfulness is and why its easier to integrate in your daily lives!

Brahm Centre is dedicated to promoting happier & healthier living through the development of mental resilience with mindfulness & wellness programs, befriending and counselling services.

AMKFSC

AMKFSC operates four family service centres across Ang Mo Kio, Sengkang and Punggol. They also provide other support services such as student care, senior services, a youth centre, mental health support programmes and a family resource centre at Changi Prison.

Pillpresso

Pillpresso is a personal medication device and mobile app that helps caregivers with managing medicines for their loved ones.It automates medicine sorting and reminding, and alerts caregivers if their loved ones have not taken their medicine. Medication dosages can be adjusted remotely over the cloud in accordance with the patient’s physical condition.

Montessori for Dementia Care

Montessori for Dementia Care (MFDC) is an activity centre that conducts activities for persons with dementia using the Montessori-Based dementia programming. They train family and domestic caregiver to care for persons with dementia. MFDC also trains healthcare professionals in the Montessori-Based Dementia Programming.

Main Room

12:30PM - 2:00PM | Film Event: A Walk Through Dementia and The Power of Storytelling

A Walk Through Dementia will feature 5 dementia-related short-films from Singapore and beyond curated by Viddsee, and an animation by Our Better World. The session will follow with a discussion on caregiver experiences and how the power of storytelling can bring strength to those walking in the journey.

2:30PM - 4:00PM | Get Your Headspace On (Mindfulness Session)

Stress has the ability to rob us of our happiness. Mindfulness, a mind-body approach, trains our minds to be aware of the stressors and steers away from the habitual patterns of worrying and rumination. Join Eric as he shares how mindfulness can help to enhance your physical health and emotional wellness through an interactive and hands-on practical session! In this session, Eric will also share how mindfulness has helped him as a young caregiver for his father with vascular dementia. 

About the speaker:
Eric Lim is a mindfulness psychologist at Brahm Centre. He graduated with a B.Soc.Sci. (Hons.) degree in psychology from the National University of Singapore. He spearheads the curriculum development and practice research efforts of the mindfulness programmes at the centre in the past 3 years. He is currently researching on the impact of mindfulness on sleep quality, in partnership with Duke-NUS Medical School Cognitive Neuroscience Lab. Eric delivers mindfulness courses, talks and workshops to the children, youth, adults, seniors and caregivers in both English and Mandarin.

4:30PM - 5:30PM | Flex N' Flow (Yoga Session)

The Mindful Breath Flow is a simple and gentle yoga sequence with an emphasis on the basics – one’s breath. Join instructor Marilyn from Akash Yoga as she leads you in a 40-minute grounding yoga session to calm and refresh the mind.

Thereafter, join Priscilla Tan, a caregiver to her father with dementia, as she shares her personal experience and the impact yoga has brought about in her journey. Please note to bring your own mats.

6:00PM - 7:30PM | Film Event: A Walk Through Dementia x Local Producers Speak Out!

In collaboration with Viddsee, A Walk Through Dementia will feature 5 dementia-related short-films from Singapore and beyond. Join three of the films’ producers, Melvin Chan, Chang Kai Xiang, Koh Chong Wu, and Co-founder of Viddsee, Derek Tan, in an interactive discussion as they discuss their experiences in producing  the films, their learning points, and how they use film to highlight societal issues in our communities.
