A story on filial piety; explore the tolls and love of a son for his mother in his journey of coping with her declining health. A tale inspired by the work of Temasek Cares – Care Close to Home programme, which supports vulnerable seniors by providing social service support and personal daily care services for the elderly.

Caregivers in Asia come from all walks of life, for many of us filial piety is a core culturally belief. When our parents are ill we have to stand by them and care for them. The process of caregiver however in this highly urbanised and capitalist world is proving to be increasing complex with the process of providing care but just one element of being a caregiver.

In this film, the life, stressors, and hardship experienced by a caregiver is acknowledged. There are also more female caregivers than males in Asia, and women have been found to experience more stressors than men.

In Singapore, 95% of the elderly are living with their family (1). There are also more female caregivers than males in Asia, and women have been found to experience more stressors than men (1).

Caregiving needs to be acknowledged and we need to work together as a community to provide our support to all the Caregivers out there and for them to know that they are not alone.
